" width="320" height="320">Drivewyze is integrating its PreClear weigh station bypass into Transflo Connect, a new mobile-based partner integration platform developed by Pegasus TransTech. Using the enhanced app, professional drivers will be able to access Drivewyze PreClear features from the Pegasus Transflo Mobile App.

Drivewyze says the new PreClear app integration works on the same mobile devices that carriers and drivers use to run Transflo Mobile, so no additional transponder is required. The company says it offers drivers the ability to bypass over 600 fixed weigh stations and mobile inspection sites in 39 states and provinces, reducing time spent in inspection lineups and improving safety by avoiding lane changes and traffic merges.

“We're adding new partners as well as new categories of technology features through the Transflo Connect platform,” said Mark Spicer, vice presient of Integrated Solutions at Pegasus TransTech. “Our enterprise mobility platform enables fleets to manage their business while drivers manage their workday, and the Drivewyze integration extends valuable new benefits to the network.”

The new Drivewyze integration is expected to be available through the Transflo Connect platform beginning this quarter.

America's roads and bridges aren't far from failing. And when that happens, the country will have about five days of normalcy before the trucks stop rolling and chaos ensues.

That's the alarm being sounded by a new documentary out now on Amazon called “Be Prepared To Stop,” which takes a hard look at the failing U.S. Interstate Highway System and paints a grim picture of a society unable to function if the trend isn't corrected soon. The result would be a crippling depletion of food, drinking water, medicine, fuel and other daily necessities, according to Jennifer Clymer, co-director and executive producer of the film. Airports would close, trash would pile up, industrial production would stop, public transit would end and the country would come to a standstill.

“'Be Prepared to Stop' is a documentary about our absolute dependence on infrastructure, specifically the Interstate Highway System,” Clymer explained. “We rely on those roads and the big rigs rolling down them to supply us with just about everything we use every day. But this round-the-clock lifeline has become so entrenched in our daily routines we don't even notice it anymore. Now that neglect is reaching a crisis point. Roads and bridges are failing, safety concerns are mounting, skilled drivers are retiring and government action is at a standstill. 'Be Prepared to Stop' raises awareness about the impact of this impending breakdown and how it will obstruct the U.S. economy and adversely affect the daily lives of all Americans."

At the core of the film, Clymer said, are several trucking-specific facts that few Americans appreciate today:

">A joint seminar in Chicago earlier this month helped fleet executives understand the realities of connected transportation and how they can help leverage them to their advantage.

The seminar was held by BlackBerry and fleet services graphics provider Modagrafics on April 6, at the Loews Chicago O'Hare Hotel in Rosemont, Illinois. Issues on the agenda ranged from connected transportation trends to the evolution of the smart trailer and how new technology works.

Also included was a demonstration of the BlackBerry's new IoT Asset Tracking System sensors, outlining how the system monitors critical events such as door opening/closing, cargo load/no load, and the internal environmental conditions of trailers, such as temperature, humidity and barometric pressure.

Late last year, Modagrafics signed a sales agent agreement with Blackberry to market the Blackberry Radar asset tracking system to fleet owners.

“Our seminar brought together fleet managers and logistic leaders within the greater Chicago area to discuss some of the big changes happening in asset management as smart connected technologies transform the space,” said Derek Kuhn, senior vice president – BlackBerry IoT. “Discussing the issues facing fleet management and how technologies, both now and looking forward to the near future, are going to be able to solve them was our main focus.”

“This was a very important event for our local fleet owners to attend,” added Modagrafics President and CEO Paul Pirkle. “They always are looking at us for ways to improve their fleets' efficiency, in addition to helping manage their brand perspective and increase customer impressions.”
