INDIANAPOLIS–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Freight logistics leader Backhaul Direct announces two additions to their executive leadership team. Akash Agarwal will lead technology efforts as the Chief Innovation Officer, overseeing Backhaul Direct’s proprietary Grapevine Transportation Management Solution. Scott Mulholland takes on the role of Senior Vice President of Logistics Solutions.

With these new hires, Backhaul Direct brings fresh ideas, talent, and tech savvy ingenuity to the table. The move brings additional firepower to Backhaul Direct’s executive leadership team with a direct aim towards the future. The newly enhanced leadership team will be refocusing the company’s efforts for major growth in its service offerings, increased market share and innovative supply chain management solutions for both internal and external stakeholders.

Agarwal, CEO of Conmitto, brings experiences from different tech organizations, specifically in Silicon Valley, to help identify and solve problems for all of Backhaul’s stakeholders. Conmitto is a cloud-based MRO and supply chain management software company that has partnered with Backhaul in the past to provide outside the box solutions for key clients. Through its continued joint venture with Conmitto and Agarwal, the company’s expectation is to leverage its proprietary TMS “Grapevine” with the robust supply chain management software of Conmitto to bring about a metamorphosis in logistics cloud-based software.

Mulholland is a strategy-oriented leader with a passion for building winning teams and pioneering practical solutions for solving shippers’ most complex issues. He most recently served as Senior Vice President at TMC Transportation, one of North America’s largest flatbed carriers. Previously, he spent nearly eight years with Echo Global Logistics as their Director of Sales and Vice President, a leading provider of technology-enabled transportation and supply chain management services.
