Brace For Stricter FDA Regulation Of CBD Consumer Products, Analysts Say

Cannabis stocks headed lower Tuesday after a Monday communication from the FDA, which sent warning letters to 13 companies for illegally selling products containing containing cannabidiol (CBD), violating the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. The 15 companies were warned for marketing CBD products for therapeutic uses in humans and/or animals as well as as dietary supplements. The FDA continues to maintain a strict stance on regulating the consumer CBD market, Bank of America Merrill Lynch analyst Christopher Carey said in his review of the dual communications from the FDA....

U.S. judge partially overturns conviction of opioid maker Insys' founder

A federal judge on Tuesday partially overturned the conviction of Insys Therapeutics Inc's founder and three former executives accused of bribing doctors to prescribe an addictive opioid, but declined to disturb the remainder of the jury's verdict. U.S. District Judge Allison Burroughs in Boston ruled the evidence prosecutors presented at trial did not support finding that John Kapoor and the others intended for doctors to prescribe the drug, Subsys, to patients who did not need it. Burroughs said she only "very reluctantly" was overturning part of the jury's May guilty verdict in the case, and said her ruling should not be taken as condoning the "reprehensible" behavior of Kapoor and his co-defendants....

Dell Reports Rosy Profit on Corporate Demand for New Computers

(Bloomberg) -- Dell Technologies Inc. reported quarterly profit that topped Wall Street estimates, in a sign that corporate demand for computers and storage hardware remains strong.Earnings, excluding some items, were $1.75 a share in the fiscal third quarter, the Round Rock, Texas-based company said Tuesday in a statement. Analysts, on average, projected $1.59, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. Adjusted revenue rose 1.2% to $22.9 billion in the period ended Nov. 1, just missing analysts’ estimates of $23 billion.Chief Executive Officer Michael Dell has sought to outperform peers by diversifying his company’s product portfolio. HP Projects Strong Profit After Spurning Xerox Takeover Bid

(Bloomberg) -- HP Inc. gave a profit forecast that topped Wall Street estimates, projecting optimism that a broad restructuring will pay off while spurning a takeover offer from Xerox Holdings Corp.Profit, excluding some items, will be $2.24 a share to $2.32 a share in fiscal 2020, the Palo Alto, California-based company said Tuesday in a statement.
