Parade Technologies Extends eDP-enabled Single Chip TED (Tcon-Embedded Driver) Product Offerings

New 1932-Channel TED targets lower cost, main-stream slim LTPS and
Oxide TFT panels up to 1920×1200 resolution

SAN JOSE, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Parade
Technologies
, Ltd. (Taiwan OTC: 4966.TWO), a leading high-speed
interface, video display, and touch controller IC supplier, today
announced a new offering in its eDP Timing Controller (Tcon) embedded
driver (TED) product category. The new TC3220,
similar to the TC3210 introduced last year, is an IC developed for
thin-profile LCD display panels. The TC3220 was developed for
Chip-on-Glass (COG) applications and provides a single-chip display
driver solution to replace the traditional eDP Tcon mated with separate
source driver chips. The TC3220 provides a lower cost alternative to the
TC3210 by not including the PSR (Panel Self Refresh) feature that
requires an integrated frame buffer. The TC3220 also provides a narrower
COG package dimension to reduce the display’s bottom border thickness
while offering footprint compatibility with the TC3210.

The TC3220 is configurable to support all panel resolutions up to
1920×1200 using an 18 or 24-bit color format. Its supports a variety of
proprietary video interface protocols offered by major CPU, GPU and SoC
vendors, and the integrated source drivers support up to 1932 output
channels and support 1 to 2 MUX, 1 to 3 MUX, and 1 to 6 MUX sub-pixel
driving structures.

“At Parade, we are continuing to systematically pursue display chip
integration and diversify our product line,” said Jimmy Chiu, Executive
VP of Marketing at Parade Technologies. “By offering both the TC3210 and
TC3220, we can now offer a highly integrated TED solution for both
high-end and main-stream slim LTPS and Oxide TFT panels up to 1920×1200
resolution.”

The TC3220 is designed for Flip Chip on Glass application on both LTPS
(Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Silicon) and Oxide TFT (thin-film
transistor) panels. It requires no external crystal or timing reference,
includes a programmable gamma buffer, and includes Parade’s exclusive
Smart-Backlight™ feature for additional color and power optimization.
The fully programmable row and column driver timing enables the TC3220
to serve a broad range of panels types, and it provides synchronization
signals that support a wide range of touch controllers.

For panels requiring the support of PSR (Panel Self Refresh) and/or
PSR2, as specified in the VESA eDP 1.4b standard, please refer to the
TC3210.

Availability

The TC3220 is offered in a gold-bumped COG (Chip-on-Glass) physical form
factor. Samples are available now.
