Property investor Henderson Park, founded by former Goldman Sachs executive Nick Weber last year, has confirmed the acquisition of two of the UK's largest hotels in a deal thought to be worth around £500m. The deal for the Hilton London Metropole and Hilton Birmingham Metropole marks the investor's first move into UK hotels, and takes its buying spree to date to roughly $1.3bn (£1bn) of assets. The 790-room Birmingham hotel is the country's largest outside of the capital, while the 1,059-room London property is the city's second largest by room count. They were sold by property modul Edward Wojakovski's Tonstate property group Weber has a track record in hotel investment having previously bought and later sold the Jury's Inn hotel chain in 2015 for £680m, a deal thought to have made a 3.25x equity return. Henderson Park has previously bought Le Méridien Étoile, the largest hotel in Paris, for €365m (£329m), and The Ledra, a 5-star hotel in Athens. Hilton will remain the operator of the two acquired UK hotels while Henderson Park's asset management team looks to enhance profitability over the longer term. Jones Day acted for Henderson Park. CBRE acted for the seller.
