Oil slides as output rises at Libya's largest oil field

Oil prices fell as much as 2 percent on Monday on selling triggered by a rebound in production from Libya's largest oil field along with worries about higher output from OPEC and the United States. Output at Libya's Sharara field was returning to normal after a brief disruption by armed protesters in the coastal city of Zawiya, the National Oil Corporation (NOC) said. The field has boosted Libya's oil production, which climbed to more than 1 million bpd in late June.

Verizon-owned Telogis has been included on the list of registered providers of Electronic Logging Device (ELD) solutions by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Installation of an ELD has been mandated by the FMCSA to digitally capture and log commercial drivers' Hours of Service (HOS) before the Dec. 18 deadline.

The Telogis Compliance HOS application allows customers to easily record, transmit and store all HOS information according to the functional requirements as detailed in the official ELD mandate. Telogis Compliance underwent extensive testing, and along with meeting technical specifications, includes enhancements such as continuous Over-the-Air (OTA) updates, support for iOS and Android, multiple rulesets and exemptions – including the 150-air-mile non-CDL short-haul exemption and customizable Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR).

The implementation of the FMCSA ELD rule is designed to help drivers more accurately track and manage records of duty status (RODS), and ultimately keep drivers safe. Commercial drivers and motor vehicle carriers subject to the ELD rule are required to install and utilize a solution by the December deadline.

“The ELD mandate is on the minds of many of our customers, and the FMCSA certification is just one more way we're simplifying the implementation process and making sure they are compliant ahead of the December deadline,” said Erin Cave, vice president, product management for Telogis Compliance and Navigation. “Going from paper to electronic logs can be a daunting task, but we partner with each customer in order to provide them with everything they need from connectivity to hardware installation assistance and everything in between.”

Existing and new Telogis customers who require ELDs can choose from a number of different bundles for hardware and monthly software subscription pricing that include what drivers and fleets need to comply with the new rules, including telematics hardware and installation, onboarding assistance, ELD ...Read the rest of this story

Unveiling the latest generation of high-end graphics cards should've been a knockout punch for Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) in its long competitive struggle with Nvidia Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA). Part of the challenge is that while AMD's new Radeon Vega processors — to go on sale starting Aug. 4 — are slick, the specifications make me think that they're going to line up against Nvidia's flagship GTX 1080: the gold standard in gaming, digital currency “mining” and other high-performance applications.
