IHS Markit Insight Enhances WorkTruckCert for NTEA Members
SOUTHFIELD, Mich.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–IHS Markit (Nasdaq: INFO) has partnered with the National Truck
Equipment Association (NTEA) to share expanded insights on the
commercial vehicle market with NTEA members through a new solution
launching during the Work Truck Show in Indianapolis March 5-8, 2019.
The solution, WorkTruckCert, uses VIN decoding software from IHS Markit
to enable end-users to more easily complete upfit certification labels.
Future enhancements will provide users with supplemental data elements
about fleet composition from the IHS Markit TIPNet solution.
Through this partnership, IHS Markit data subscribers will be able to
access previously unavailable detailed information on upfitting of more
than one million straight and box trucks across the GVW 1-8 market
segments, including bodystyle and vocational use. This level of insight
will enhance the current TIPNet solution offered by IHS Markit and allow
commercial vehicle data customers access to select detail on these key
attributes to help them with business planning and strategy decisions.
“We’re pleased to partner with NTEA on this unique initiative for
WorkTruckCert,” said Dawn Brusseau, associate director, commercial
vehicle solutions at IHS Markit. “Our arrangement with NTEA will offer
one of the industry’s most comprehensive views of the market across all
truck classes and types, enabling better decision making.”
The medium-duty commercial vehicle market continues to expand with
steady year-over-year growth. In 2018, the market grew by 17,000 new
registrations of class 6 and 7 trucks. The growth in the medium duty
market segment is linked to the growing regional distribution and
expansion of e-commerce. Other factors include driver shortage as fleets
and trucking companies experience difficulties hiring CDL-holding
drivers to operate the biggest trucks.
“Through our partnership with NTEA and the bodybuilder community we are
able to expand our data performance capabilities and provide a
comprehensive look at the commercial vehicle equipment enhancements and
trends in medium duty vehicle modifications,” Brusseau said.
