panel at SXSW 2019 named The
Great Adoption, Gaming as Entertainment. The complementary
world of esports, sports and music has become the fastest growing
entertainment segment in the world, with live viewership exceeding most
sports and other forms of entertainment. The Great Adoption, Gaming
as Entertainment panel brings together the perspectives of teams,
broadcasters and brands to discuss the adoption of tri-entertainment,
the rapid merger of sports, esports and the music world as a new form of
entertainment. Market leaders from ESPN, Philadelphia 76ers’ Dignitas
and HyperX bring their knowledge and insights to SXSW 2019.

Great Adoption, Gaming as Entertainment panel takes place at the
SXSW Esports Conference on Friday, March 15 from 2 – 3 p.m. at the
Austin Convention Center, Room 9AB, and features gaming industry experts
including:

Heather Garozzo, VP of marketing, Dignitas, a Philadelphia 76ers
gaming organization – As the Vice President of Marketing, Garozzo
is responsible for creating and executing Dignitas’ fan marketing and
community engagement strategies for the 15-year old esports
organization, acquired by Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment in
2016. She oversees the development of team and player brands and
creates authentic sponsor activations with influencers and streamers.
Garozzo, a former ESL and ELEAGUE In-Game Director, had previously
served as Dignitas’ Director of Fan Engagement, where her efforts
resulted in a 90% increase in the team’s livestream viewership and 20%
plus increase in social media engagement. Garozzo earned her M.B.A. in
Marketing and eBusinesss from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee
and her B.A. in Communications from the University of
Wisconsin-Madison. -
Kevin M. Lopes, director of business development, ESPN – Lopes
is currently the director of business development at ESPN. He brings
extensive ESPN experience, having worked within the programming group
for 10 years, most recently as director, digital media programming &
acquisitions, where he was responsible for scheduling/operational
oversight of live digital events, digital collegiate acquisitions, and
esports programming acquisitions and strategy. Prior to ESPN, Lopes
was at the Big East Conference. He has a bachelor’s in Communications
from the University of Rhode Island. -
Daniel Kelley, director of global corporate marketing, HyperX – Kelley
offers unique insight into the merging of esports, traditional sports
and music, securing strategic partnerships with NBA and NFL players,
music artists and esports teams, including Grammy-winning artist Post
Malone, Pittsburgh Steelers’ wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, and
All-Star players Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers, Gordon Hayward
of the Boston Celtics and De’Aaron Fox of the Sacramento Kings. Kelley
leads HyperX in driving wide-reaching brand awareness with a We’re
All Gamers campaign currently seen on broadcast, digital and

Stan Press, industry consultant, Esports – Press is involved in
esports from the agency perspective and has been a moderator of
esports panels around the world. He brings his esports experience as a
moderator to the 2019 panel.
In addition to the panel, HyperX is sponsoring the SXSW PC Arena for the
second year in a row, supplying 150 sets of HyperX gaming peripherals
including gaming headsets, keyboards, mice and mousepads. Guests can
demo HyperX gear while playing the latest games in organized
competitions and tournaments. Streamers will be broadcasting live from
the SXSW Gaming Expo floor each day using HyperX gaming peripherals from
The Streamery, an area dedicated to streaming live content at SXSW
Gaming.
At the SXSW Gaming Expo, attendees can view HyperX’s We’re All Gamers campaign,
seen on NBA Saturday Primetime on ABC presented by HyperX Gaming, and
try out the latest gaming gear at the HyperX booth #2407 on Friday March
15 – Saturday, March 16 from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Sunday, March 17 from
11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Booth activities will include daily giveaways, product
demos, PC and console gaming stations, and onsite sales with special
discounts for select products. Visitors will have the opportunity to try
out award-winning gaming products used by gaming professionals around
the world including HyperX gaming headsets, keyboards, mice, mousepads,
memory and SSDs.
