High-Frequency Traders Really Love Doing Business With Robinhood

(Bloomberg) -- No one is welcoming the new army of Robinhood day-traders into the stock market more warmly than high-frequency trading firms. The speed traders -- or electronic market makers, if you prefer labels with less baggage -- pay online brokerages like Robinhood Financial for the opportunity to execute their clients’ buy and sell orders. Many of these come from what traditionally were called mom-and-pop traders, but these days they also likely include a large cohort of bored-stepson-living-in-mom’s-basement traders. It’s a practice known as “payment for order flow” and is not without controversy. Many critics suspect the reason these sophisticated firms actually pay brokerages to perform this chore for them is because their algorithms are champing at the bit to take advantage of those known in polite company as “uninformed investors” and in impolite company as “dumb money.”Whatever you call them, one thing is clear: The computer whizzes are willing to pay a...

U.S. Seizes Four Iranian Tankers Carrying Fuel to Venezuela

(Bloomberg) -- The U.S. seized four tankers carrying Iranian gasoline bound for Venezuela in an unprecedented move by the Trump administration that carries the potential to destabilize global oil shipments if Iran retaliates. The tankers were transporting 1.116 million barrels of petroleum, which has now been confiscated after help from “foreign partners,” the Justice Department said in a statement Friday. It is not clear where the ships were at the time of the seizures because they had all turned off their satellite-tracking systems to avoid detection between May and July, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.“These actions represent the government’s largest-ever seizure of fuel shipments from Iran,” according to the DOJ statement, which said the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, designated a foreign terrorist organization, was behind the shipment. The prospect of retaliatory action by Iran has the potential to disrupt oil markets if Iran interferes with international oil tankers transiting the Strait of...

CrowdStrike's Premium Metrics Deserve Premium Valuation, Says Bullish UBS

The bullish case for cybersecurity provider Crowdstrike Holdings Inc (NASDAQ: CRWD) is based on the simple premise that the company's premium metrics deserve a premium valuation, according to UBS.The CrowdStrike Analyst: Fatima Boolani initiated coverage of CrowdStrike with a Buy rating and $120 price target. The CrowdStrike Thesis: CrowdStrike's advanced cloud-native and SaaS-based endpoint and workload security platform positions it to take advantage of secular trends, including work from home, cloud adoption and IoT device growth, Bollani said in an initiation note. (See her track record here.)The company's exposure to fast-growing segments should allow it to sustain a strong 40%-plus compounded annual revenue growth rate through 2022, the analyst said.Part of the growth could come from the company's success in expanding to adjacent markets like vulnerability and systems management, she said. Beyond revenue growth, CrowdStrike should show around eight points of annual operating margin improvement through fiscal 2023 to 10%, Boolani said.Over...

Here’s The Only Safe Way To Buy Tesla Stock
