Schneider: More than half of tractor fleet now has automated transmissions

Both veteran and rookie drivers prefer the new transmissions, according to the company.
National truckload carrier Schneider recently passed the halfway mark in its fleet-wide implementation of automated transmission trucks, replacing trucks with manual transmissions. The company said doing so has also transformed drivers it brings into its ranks, with the influx of new, easier-to-operate tractors opening the door for those considering a career in truck driving.
