Housing affordability in America is its worst in nearly a decade, and there's one clear culprit

Housing affordability hit its worst level in nearly a decade during the first quarter, according to Attom Data Solutions. Attom measures affordability by comparing average wages to median home prices to determine the share of income people need to spend on housing. Prospective buyers needed to shell out more because mortgage rates rose.

Supreme Court Approves Online Sales Taxes. Here's What Happens Next

In a close decision delivered Thursday, the Supreme Court cleared the way for state and local governments to begin collecting sales taxes from online retailers and other merchants who lack a presence in a given locale. The decision could result in billions of dollars in extra tax revenues at the state and local level. The background: A 1992 court decision exempted retailers who lacked a physical presence in a state, such as catalog merchants, from paying sales taxes.

China-U.S. trade war hits Daimler profit, may sweep sector

Germany's Daimler cut its 2018 profit forecast and BMW said it was looking at "strategic options" because of a trade war between China and the United States, sparking fears of a wave of earnings downgrades in the auto industry. Daimler said late on Wednesday that import tariffs on cars exported from the United States to China would hurt sales of its Mercedes-Benz cars, resulting in slightly lower earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) this year.

If you start saving in a Roth IRA at age 15 rather than 25, you can double your savings by retirement with no extra work. "Individual retirement accounts, known as IRAs, are super smart places to put your money. Kobliner says young people should be taking advantage of Roth IRAs, because any earned income stored there will be taxed today rather than at withdrawal, when they're more than likely to be in a higher tax bracket.

How to Get Over the Great Recession -- and Manage Your Money Better

The Great Recession hit more than a decade ago, but Americans are still feeling the effects of it on their pocketbooks. When it comes to wealth distribution, families at the middle saw their household wealth drop from more than $140,000 in 2007 to $85,000 in 2010. Despite gains in recent years, average household wealth still hasn't caught up to those pre-recession levels, according to calculations from the Urban Institute.

Intel Corp. Chief Executive Brian Krzanich has resigned from the company effective immediately, the tech giant said Thursday, after he was found to have violated company policies through a past relationship with another employee. In a release, Intel (INTC) announced that an investigation by internal and external counsel found that Krzanich violated the company’s “non-fraternization policy” when he had a “past consensual relationship” with someone else at the company. Intel’s policy “applies to all managers,” the company said.

Regardless of the reason, it is clear that gambling stocks are always among the most popular on Wall Street. Luckily for investors, now is also a great time to be buying gambling stocks, as continued Vegas strength, a great recovery in Macau, and overall international interest in gaming have led to rising share prices.

China to reduce U.S. oil imports post-September amid trade spat: sources

SINGAPORE/BEIJING (Reuters) - Chinese oil buyers will keep taking crude from the United States through September, but plan to reduce future purchases to avoid a likely import tariff amid a trade spat between the world's two largest economies, multiple industry sources said. Beijing has put U.S. energy products, including crude oil and refined products, on lists of goods that it will hit with import taxes in retaliation for similar moves by Washington. Beijing did not specify when it will impose a 25 percent tax on oil, and that gives buyers time to adjust purchases while waiting for the outcome of trade talks, the sources said.

The change in leadership comes as Intel expands beyond personal computers and servers into areas such as artificial intelligence and self-driving cars, where smaller competitors including Nvidia Corp (NVDA.O) are strong. The board named Chief Financial Officer Robert Swan as interim CEO and said it has begun a search for a permanent CEO, including internal and external candidates.
