Boeing Is on a Cash Upswing That Could Lift the Dividend

Worries about a potential  trade war haven't slowed Boeing (BA) down: After turning in the best performance in the Dow Jones Industrial Average in 2017, the shares are up more than 22% so far this year. All of that could lead to a potential cash-flow-per-share ramp to $32 by 2021, von Rumohr estimates, which may allow Boeing to raise its dividend to $10.50 a share (up from $6.84 today).

      Social Security Isn't 'Going Away'

To my surprise, readers took issue not with my advice to save 15% of your pretax salary (which I concede is a huge effort) but with my assertion that Social Security will also provide some income during retirement years. The majority of the feedback I received was from self-identified millennials, who told me that I was flat-out wrong to say that Social Security would still exist--in any form--come 2050 or so when they retire. The interest received from invested trust fund assets is a smaller source of Social Security funding.

By making wise investments in troubled companies, however, even small investors can sometimes finish rich with fixer-upper stocks.

Uncertainty around whether Broadcom AVGO could buy Qualcomm QCOM — an event that would have been the largest technology takeover ever — wasn't the only thing weighing on negotiations, Qualcomm's CEO told CNBC on Wednesday. "I think it was a situation where there were some questions about deal certainty, which clearly became the case, but I think it's also a case where it's very difficult to buy a company using a hostile [bid]," Qualcomm CEO Steven Mollenkopf told "Mad Money" host Jim Cramer.
