Shares Micron MU climbed nearly 6% on Monday to hit a new 52-week high of $52.03 per share, marking MU’s first close above $50 since September 2000. This substantial move from the semiconductor giant did not follow any real breaking news, but this a great time to see what Micron has been up to recently that might have facilitated this surge. Last month, Micron announced that it appointed a new senior vice president and chief financial officer, David Zinsner, to succeed Ernie Maddock.
Since Aug. 23, Alibaba Group Holding Ltd (NYSE:BABA) stock has gained just 2%. Alibaba stock has been mostly range-bound, save for the brief moment when BABA stock traded over $200 in late January. Shares of General Electric Company (GE) were flying Monday, up 3.25% at one point and ending higher by 2.12% to $14.42 at Monday's close. That's not something we see everyday for the stock. Helping sentiment is a research note from Nicholas Heymann, an analyst from William Blair. He's feeling better about GE stock and makes the case that shares can head to the $20 to $22 range, TheStreet's Jim Cramer pointed out on CNBC's "Stop Trading" segment. A few positives that Heymann sees going for GE stock? Oil prices increasing certainly helps, as should the three new directors the company just added. GE's aviation and health care segments should also continue to do well. No stock falls 50% over the

By Alister Doyle Environment Correspondent OSLO (Reuters) - Many Norwegian companies lag high standards for reporting their impact on the environment that the Nordic nation's $1 trillion wealth fund is championing abroad in 2018. The world's biggest sovereign wealth fund, which is barred by the Norwegian government from investing at home, wants the 9,100 companies in which it holds stakes to submit data on issues such as water use and climate effects to London-based non-profit group CDP, formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project. In Norway, just two firms - DNB bank and property firm Entra - were on a CDP list of 160 "A" rated performers worldwide for disclosure in 2017.

General Motors Co. and Ford Motor Co. would each take a $1 billion profit hit if proposed steel tariffs advance in Washington, according to analysts at Goldman Sachs. Steel is the primary material used by GM (GM) and Ford (XNYS:F), the analysts said in a note. “Based on 2017 production mix, if the proposed tariff of 25% on imported steel translates into a similar magnitude of increase in steel prices, it would impact each firm by roughly $1 billion, representing 12% and 7% of their 2017 adjusted operating income, respectively,” they said.

Kirby's decision comes at a particularly challenging time for United Airlines as the carrier grapples to reassure shareholders and appease employees amid lagging financial performance compared with rivals' and demands for better wages and benefits.

The chaotic month of February came to an end for investors last week. In the week ahead, investors will continue to grapple with the economic consequences of newly-imposed tariffs and potential retaliation from other U.S. trading partners, while also bracing for the month’s biggest economic report — the February jobs report. This report will come a little less than two weeks before the Federal Reserve’s next interest rate decision, scheduled for March 21, which is expected to see the central bank raise interest rates by 0.25%.
Just how President Trump’s controversial proposal to impose tariffs on steel and aluminum imports will play out is very hard to say. Speaker Paul Ryan and other Republicans are trying to lobby the president to back away from his idea, concerned about a global trade war that would hurt U.S. companies and consumers. One of the worries is that U.S. companies that depend heavily on sales from overseas could be harmed. In the meantime, some of these companies’ stocks will rise and fall depending on the latest turn of events – or tweet -- in this debate. For example, Expeditors International of Washington (EXPD), 3M (MMM) and Boeing (BA) all lost ground last week. Their shares were down 3.4%, 2.8%
