The presentation will also cover using multi-agent trajectory data to predict fine-grained plays through in-stadium optical tracking cameras. Finally, Dr. Lucey will detail how the revolutionary new technology, AutoSTATS, has the ability to go beyond center-of-mass tracking to capture body-pose information from broadcast video.

On Wednesday, March 27 at 9:15 a.m. PST, Dr. Lucey will present his keynote, “Interactive Sports Analytics.” A summary of his data case study, Dr. Lucey will discuss the advancements in player tracking and how the influx of new data provides greater possibilities for data science in sports.

“Player tracking data has become a vital part of international analysis in sports, especially in basketball and soccer,” said Dr. Lucey. “With recent advancements in AI and computer vision, STATS has recently created AutoSTATS, a brand-new technology that can pull tracking and body-pose data directly from broadcast video. With a wealth of new data, sports analysis is on the precipice of a boom where we can diagram plays and accurately simulate outcomes of in-game events. It is an exciting time for data science in sports, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to share our recent developments with computer vision and machine learning experts who may be interested in joining our team.”
