NYC's trash is Mack's treasure

NEW YORK CITY, NY — Mack Trucks and the New York City Department of Sanitation are in talks to test out dimethyl ether (DME) as a new alternative fuel for its massive refuse fleet, but in the interim the truck maker brought reporters to the Big Apple to understand some of the processes involved in cleaning up after more than 8.5 million residents.

They’ve come a long way from the horse-drawn carriages that once collected the world-class city’s waste.
