Barefoot Networks to Showcase Programmable Data Plane Use Cases with SONiC and Other Solutions at Open Compute Project Global Summit 2019
Multiple demonstrations and presentations in collaboration with Microsoft, SK Telecom, STORDIS and Kaloom will highlight P4 programmability use cases for enterprises, carriers and cloud operators
SAN JOSE, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Barefoot Networks, a provider of high-performance and fully programmable networking solutions, today announced that it will be sponsoring Open Compute Project Global Summit 2019, March 14-15, in San Jose, Calif., with several demonstrations and presentations highlighting the power of P4-programmability and programmable data planes for open infrastructure.
The growth of cloud computing over the past year has accelerated the pressure on networks to be more flexible and nimble than ever before. While disaggregation and availability of mature disaggregated network operating systems have enabled agility in control and management planes, true network agility can not be achieved without a dataplane that is fully programmable in an open language. Hence, only the combination of an operating system such as Software for Open Networking in the Cloud (SONiC) based on Switch Abstraction Interface (SAI), Barefoot Tofino and P4 can truly unlock the potential of a next-generation cloud network.
